Region 19 Head Start Offers Free Adult Education Classes

Family well-being is vital to childrenís learning and school success. The Head Start Family Development Centers (FDCís) help support families as learners by offering free adult education classes in English and Spanish.

The FDCís help parents further their education and prepares them for employment. The FDCís offer General Education Diploma (GED) prep, Commercial Driverís License (CDL) prep, English as Second Language (ESL), basic computer, health and family wellness, and nutrition classes.

ďThe goal of the FDC is to promote and provide educational opportunities and support services to improve the quality of life of our families. Parents are the most important influence in their childrenís lives and so continuing their education empowers parents to provide a solid learning foundation and good example for their children,Ē Program Manager David Herrera said.
