El Paso Border Patrol and Agent Santos Visit Head Start Children

""

The El Paso Border Patrol visited Lyndon B. Johnson Head Start children to talk about safety in the community, at home, and in a vehicle.

Five of El Paso border patrol agents, along with the beloved talking robot, Agent Santos, taught the students how to stay safe in various situations. Agent Santos and his friends talked about safety tips including wearing seat belts, what to do if they saw or found a gun, and stranger danger. After the presentation, the children took an oath to be junior border patrol agents.

“I try to get them to come out twice a year because the children really enjoy the presentation,” says family service worker, Annette Macias. “These are situations that are common for more children than you would think so it is important to have a trusting figure like the border patrol, reinforce safety and how to respond. The kids really enjoy the program- especially Agent Santos!’
