ESC Region 19 Head Start celebrates traditions and cultural awareness with children and families. Head Start embraces the ethnic, cultural, and linguistic diversity of its communities.

The program recognizes diversity as an opportunity for children and families to learn about different cultures and customs. September 16th is a Mexican Holiday to celebrate the cry of independence "El Grito de Dolores" which started a revolt against the Spaniards in 1810.

Head Start builds upon the skills and culture that each child and family brings to the program. Participating in the celebration of holidays creates a special experience that can help bond young children with their family's and community's cultural traditions.
