Region 19 Head Start celebrated the Transition Advisory Committee (TAC) and Health Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) with over 50 school district and community partner members who attended a special luncheon in their honor.
Head Start Director Socorro Rodriguez, program directors, program managers and center managers attended the event to express their appreciation for the involvement of so many community partners in our program.
“Thanks to your participation and dedication to the TAC and HSAC Committees, our program is able to identify community needs and resources that support our children’s development,” said Rodriguez. “Through the many local partnerships with school districts, healthcare providers, and social services agencies we impact over 4,000 children and their families each year. We are very thankful for all that you do.”
TAC is an advisory group composed of appointed educators from nine local school districts.
HSAC is an advisory group composed of Head Start staff, families and healthcare providers who represent a variety of social services agencies. TAC and HSAC guide our program’s services in order to help strengthen the communities where Head Start families live.
In exchange, community members applauded the hard work of the Head Start staff.
“I want to recognize and thank the Head Start program for ensuring the health of our children by maintaining immunizations and health exams up-to-date and complying with health regulations,” said Public Health Supervisor Alejandra Rodarte. “This allows our children to enter our public schools healthy, safe and ready to learn.”
The Head Start Program Performance Standards require every Head Start program to form and maintain the TAC and HSAC committees to assist with the planning, operation and evaluation of transition and health services. These committees and its members are fully involved, and they are a critical component of our program’s comprehensives services.
