Region 19 Head Start Education leaders, Sylvia Parra, Ramona Huffman, Maria  Elena Hernandez, Nellie Chavez, and Karina Hernandez, gathered in Washington DC for the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s  (NAEYC) annual education conference.

The theme for this year’s week long event was “Imagine, Innovate, and Inspire”. NAEYC, a national association for any professional or parent concerned about the welfare of young children 0-8 years old, sponsors the annual conference, and is the accrediting agency for Head Start and similar programs which serve children birth to age 8.

The purpose of the conference is to help administrators, teachers, childcare workers, parents and anyone who works with young children to acquire new information and learn about the latest research in early care and education for children.  It also provides an opportunity for networking with other Early Childhood Professionals.

R19 Head Start Educators regularly attend the conference, which provides them with progressive strategies and new information regarding early education, and working with young children and their families. This information is passed on to our teacher and mentors, and ultimately benefits the children and families of Region 19 Head Start.
